A Seiko boutique opens its doors in Guayaquil, Ecuador
On March 13, Seiko opened its first boutique in the Latin America region in the beautiful center of Guayaquil, Ecuador's largest city. Located 60 km from the Pacific Ocean, Guayaquil is Ecuador's gateway to the world, with its important port and international airport. 2.4 million people live in this vibrant and fast-growing city.
The new Seiko Boutique is in the Policentro shopping center, the oldest most prestigious and most visited mall in the city and occupies a two story space of 120 square meters.
While Seiko is, of course, a long-established brand in Ecuador, the new Seiko Boutique presents the new face of Seiko with 300 styles on display, including the luxury Grand Seiko collection and Seiko's rising star, the new Seiko Astron GPS Solar which was presented at the opening of the Seiko Boutique for the very first time in Ecuador.
The inauguration was a glittering occasion, attended by representatives of the Mayor's office, the Chamber of Commerce and the Japanese Embassy as well as representatives of the media and many invited guests. In all, 200 people were present and heard words of welcome from Mr. Juan Doumet, Director of Almacenes Juan Eljuri, from Harumitsu Akashi, General Manager from Seiko Watch Corporation, and one Astron watch was presented by Shingo Sato, President of Seiko Panama, S.A. to an ambassador of Seiko Astron in Ecuador, Mr. Nassib Neme, the owner of EMELEC, one of Ecuador's most popular football teams.
The opening of the Seiko Boutique marks another important step forward in the long-standing and successful partnership of Seiko and Almacenes Juan Eljuri. The company has represented Seiko in Ecuador for over forty years and is one of Seiko's most successful partners in Latin America.
The opening of the Seiko Boutique in Guayaquil is the latest of many; there are now over 30 such stores in the world.
